Good morning friends. Posting has been light for the last week, and I can finally explain why. I am thrilled to announce that I am the new Communications Director for the Idaho Freedom Foundation.
The Idaho Freedom Foundation is on the front lines of the battle for liberty in Idaho, which is a battle being waged throughout the nation, and even the world. The forces of totalitarianism today are not as overt as a century ago, but they are no less pernicious. They come in the name of diversity, of tolerance, of compassion, of the public good, but their aims remain the same: the enslavement of mankind to a technocratic agenda. Fighting this agenda is the great battle of our time.
As I have become involved in state politics over the past few years, I have found the IFF to be both principled and effective in fighting this battle. Unlike many other free market organizations that want to confine their activism to tax cuts and regulatory policy, the IFF is not afraid to engage in the culture war. They understand that we are more than just numbers in a spreadsheet: we are families, we are communities, we are a free people with natural rights.
Idaho Freedom Foundation gives a voice to the voiceless, the people who don’t have the means, the time or the wherewithal to take on the special interests, which include labor unions, the government bureaucracy or businesses that seek a handout. We hold lawmakers accountable when they say one thing and do another, when they promise conservative leadership but then vote to expand government, support special interests or make it harder for Idahoans to get ahead and stay ahead.
It is a great honor to have been asked to join this organization, and I am incredibly excited to work with such a passionate and talented team. The work that Wayne Hoffman, Dustin Hurst, Anna Miller, Fred Birnbaum, Ron Nate, Niklas Kleinworth, Kaitlyn Shepherd, and all the other staffers, partners, and contractors have done over the past decade is nothing short of remarkable. Much of the credit for the conservative revolution in the Legislature this year is due to the hard work of the IFF in giving voters the tools to understand the legislative process, to follow the bills being debated at the Capitol, and to measure the performance of their representatives - and then to hold them accountable.
The freedom and prosperity of our children and their children depends on what we do today. It is with great enthusiasm that I step into this new role, knowing that I have a chance to make a difference. As Ronald Reagan said, I’m not just marking time, but am using the time I have been given to make this state a better place for my posterity.
Gem State Substack is not going away! On the contrary, it was this endeavor that brought me to the attention of the movers and shakers in Idaho politics, including the IFF, and I intend to continue using it to keep you informed of the goings-on in our political parties, our communities, and our state. Posting might slow down a bit, but rest assured this site is not going anywhere.
Credit for these developments does not belong to me, but to you - to everyone who read, shared, and subscribed to this publication over the past year. You gave me the encouragement to keep going, feedback to keep me on my toes, and made me believe that I have a role to play in shaping the future of our community. Without you, I am just another voice shouting into the ether, but together we are going to change the world.
Boy!! The IFF scored when they hired you Brian. Looking very forward to following you. Congrats and God Bless. May He use you for His Purpose. Cathy
Congratulations! And keep us posted!!
