It’s time to take Gem State Substack to the next level.
I believe there is a pressing need for solid, comprehensive, and independent journalism and political analysis in the Treasure Valley. The response to this publication over the last two years leads me to believe I might be well positioned to fill this need.
When I started this publication in January 2022, my vision was just to write about what I saw, and to draw a line between history, political philosophy, and current events in such a way that made sense. The ensuing response went beyond my wildest dreams, opening doors I never could have imagined. I have been humbled and honored by your support.
Now it is time to raise that vision.
I want to make Gem State Substack the premier outlet for political news and analysis in the Treasure Valley and in Idaho. My plan is to provide daily content in the form of articles, essays, videos, and podcasts. I also want to build a community by hosting in-person meetings, such as buying a table at a Lincoln Day dinner and offering the seats to subscribers at a reduced rate.
To accomplish that, I will be making some content subscriber-only. I will still release one or two posts each week for free, including candidate recommendations, but I will save the best for paid subscribers. For less than the price of a cup of coffee a week, I will bring you the news and analysis you need in our shared fight for liberty.
Paid subscribers will also have early access to videos, podcasts, and interviews, as well as a private subscriber-only chat here on Substack.
This is what the new Gem State Substack will look like:
Free tier:
Free
One or two posts per week about local politics, candidates, or issues.
Paid tier:
$9.99 /month or $115 /year
Daily posts on local and national issues
Immediate access to interviews, videos, and podcasts
Invitations to in-person events
Signed copies of any books I might someday write
Occasional swag, like this mug if you don’t already have one
Patron tier:
$150 /year or more
All of the above plus first dibs on in-person events
I would also be happy to shout out local businesses who are willing to sponsor this publication. Current subscribers will continue at their existing tiers.
I welcome your feedback as I begin this new endeavor. Email me at gemstate@substack.com.
The best is truly yet to come. Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. Please share with like-minded people so I can get this new project off the ground.
Congratulations, Brian, on your continuing success and you've my sincere gratitude for your isinimitable publication. My only snivel, as an early subscriber, would be to frugally suggest a second more limited tier in the $50/yr range.đŸ˜‰
