I have been following our local Democratic candidates Crystal Ivie and Shelley Brock since the primaries. While Ms. Brock has been mostly concise and on message, Ms. Ivie seems to be growing a bit unhinged as we approach Election Day.
She has posted the same image of Ted Hill’s website five or six times, highlighting his affirmation of the Idaho Republican Party platform. (All GOP candidates are asked to sign such a statement.) Each post is crazier than the last - by Sunday she was suggesting that Captain Hill’s support for school choice would be the end of high school football!
Ivie recently posted a long and whining rant about how the Idaho Education Association endorsed Hill over her, even though he is a scary Republican who supports “vochers”. For a former BSU professor, this must have been especially insulting.
Finally, earlier today Ivie said that Senator Mike Crapo is scary because he believes in the 10th Amendment to the Constitution. (One might reasonably ask if Ivie has even read the Constitution.)
I am not posting this to necessarily mock Crystal Ivie, as amusing as that is, but to illustrate the desperation that is gripping the Democratic Party. Ever since the election of Donald Trump in 2016, the Democrats have felt a creeping fear that their totalitarian program might be derailed by patriotic American voters. They managed to retake the House in 2018 (based partly on the debunked Russiagate hoax) and the White House and Senate in 2020 (based entirely on the unconstitutional voting rule changes in the name of stopping Covid-19) but they nevertheless see the red wave on the horizon.
Somewhere deep inside, these Democrats must know that they deserve the blame for our skyrocketing inflation, our out-of-control crime problem, and our lack of a southern border. They try to deny it - these things are not really happening - and they try to deflect blame - it’s all the GOP’s fault and will only get worse if they win - but they can surely read the writing on the wall. Like Belshazzar, they have been tried and found wanting by the American people.
Every high profile race in America shows how desperate the Democrats have become. Many pundits predicted that the overturning of Roe v. Wade would put the Republicans on the defensive about abortion, but now we see Democrats defending murdering babies up until the moment of birth. Stacy Abrams, the failed candidate for governor in Georgia who is running again on a platform of hating America, made the nonsensical claim that pro-life activists made up the idea of a fetal heartbeat in order to scare women away from abortion.
Democrats are being destroyed in one-on-one debates. Herschel Walker crushed the slick-talking Raphael Warnock in Georgia while Blake Masters made mincemeat out of former astronaut Mark Kelly in Arizona. Even where they are skipping debates, Democrats are still being made to look foolish. Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake is winning the social media battle with Democrat Katie Hobbs, even fighting in leftist territory like CNN. Mehmet Oz might not have been the obvious choice in the Pennsylvania primary for US Senate, but he is presenting a compelling alternative to his opponent, a literally disabled stroke victim who dresses like an absolute slob and can barely form complete sentences.
Republicans look poised to win back not only battleground states like Georgia and Arizona, but they are within striking distance of federal and state offices in places like Nevada and Oregon as well. This is not just going to be a red wave, this is going to be a tsunami. Not only are Republicans going to win big, but many of our candidates are solid conservatives - MAGA Republicans, as Joe Biden says. We are on the verge of reshaping both the US Congress and the Idaho State Legislature in three weeks.
The lesson for us here in Idaho is that we need to strike while the iron is hot. In red districts like my own LD14, we need to crush Democrats Crystal Ivie and Shelley Brock so hard they feel ashamed to show their faces in public. In swing districts like LD15, we need to carry our Republicans across the line and defeat left-wing radicals like Steve Berch and Rick Just. I for one cannot wait to sit in the Senate gallery and watch spirited debate with Scott Herndon, Brian Lenney, Tammy Nichols, Codi Galloway, Glenneda Zuiderveld, and David Worley.
Now is the time to press forward. Don’t let off the gas. Donate, volunteer, put up signs, and remind your neighbors to vote Republican. We are winning, but merely winning is not enough.
Ivie apparently is very out of touch and is doubling down on leftist idiocy stating that she supports public schools. It is almost comical to think that is a winning issue. I think it is amusing how these leftist try to represent themselves as for the people, when in her own statements, she is for the D party first.
As my parents and grandparents often said during my childhood (and beyond): “From Your Mouth (Lips) to God's Ears” (https://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/from+your+mouth+to+God%27s+ears).
I sincerely hope you are right about the red tsunami, as long as the winners get busy, do not rest on their laurels, strongly uphold truly conservative principles, and start clawing back the many rights we have lost under Democrats and non-conservative Republicans.
Just a few points:
First, not all Republicans (with R) next to their names are true conservatives. Many Idahoans (new and long-time) don’t realize this. A few examples:
- Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky): Ties to the Chinese Communist Party (https://teaparty.org/revealed-mcconnells-links-to-chinese-communist-party-473190/)
- Sen. Mike Crapo (R-Idaho): Ties to Big Pharma and other corporate donors, voted with leftist Democrats Pelosi and Schumer (https://www.forbes.com/sites/michelatindera/2019/02/26/these-senators-received-the-biggest-checks-from-pharma-companies-testifying-drug-pricing-abbvie-sanofi-merck-pfizer/?sh=7055cc721da2 and https://www.clevelandforsenate.com/crapo_facts )
- Governor Brad Little (R-Idaho): Has betrayed Idaho on many fronts, from COVID tyranny to welfare (https://www.votebundy.com/issue/brad-little, https://townhall.com/columnists/scottmorefield/2020/01/06/here-are-the-republican-governors-who-betrayed-trump-and-their-constituents-by-asking-for-refugee-resettlement-in-their-states-n2558981 and https://trueidahonews.com/is-brad-little-a-marionette-for-klaus-schwab-and-the-world-economic-forum/)
Second, before one votes, consider testing the Republican candidate’s behavior, history, and voting record against The Idaho Republican Party Platform (https://idgop.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/2022-24-Idaho-Republican-Party-Platform-1.pdf). For example, Scott Cleveland (formerly Republican, now unaffiliated Constitutional conservative) and Ammon Bundy (formerly Republican, now unaffiliated Constitutional conservative) are more conservative than their Republican opponents, Mike Crapo and Brad Little, respectively.
Finally, I agree that some people are absolutely unhinged while others truly support conservatives. We had some interesting experiences during recent campaign literature drops in our mostly conservative little corner of Idaho.
Our packets included a voting guide for conservatives (most are Republicans when no other viable choices were available), plus information on the two previously mentioned unaffiliated Conservative candidates: Scott Cleveland (https://www.clevelandforsenate.com/) and Ammon Bundy (https://www.votebundy.com/ ).
During our “lit drops,” we were unfailingly friendly, avoided homes with NO SOLICITING and NO TRESPASSING signs, and engaged people only when they were out in their yards (no door knocking).
Two people, a man and a woman were quite rude. The man told me he “already voted,” said loudly “get off my property,” and emphatically returned the packet. The woman shouted “he’s a criminal” and literally threw the packet at me.
By contrast, several engaged in conversation, thanked us for our efforts on behalf of liberty, and requested additional packets for their friends and family.
Wow! Night and day, indeed.
