Well done, Brian. This is a masterpiece: "apples of gold in settings of silver."
I hope all of us can take this wise, good-faith message to heart.
To those of us on the more conservative side, let's not gloat. We did not win for sake of winning, but to fulfill a purpose to serve the constituents Brian so aptly described here.
We need to know where every bit of their funding came from. Their candidates lied about being republicans.
Turn the other cheek isn’t applicable in every situation. TRUTH is what matters.
We need facts.
Someone please explain to me why GSC voted against voicing support for Israel?
How, many GSC were clearly Democrats such as Colletti & Wheeler in Bonneville county.
WA OR CO even CA were once livable states. The left has made it clear truth means nothing. The Romney approach is never the correct path, unless backed by truth- and if you’re honest about his history you’ll admit he’s done irreparable damage to conservatives & the Republican Party
I was 80% in agreement with you. Can you guess where the 20% disagreement occurred? Just remember that conspiracy “theories” often prove factual over time, and often after their proponents were ridiculed, censored, or even killed. To wit: Smoking causes cancer (U.S. Surgeon General). Handwashing prevents maternal deaths (Dr. Ignaz Semmelweis). The earth revolves around the sun (Nicolaus Copernicus).
Anyway, very good post. May the sniping end and the hard work begin.
100% Agree on this: We absolutely must work in concert (cue the violins) to defeat “Rigged Choice Voting” and “Jangle Primaries.” I continue to collect some good information on the evils of RCV here (short link): https://tinyurl.com/4m8rbbun
Well said! It's exactly everything I think about the state of our party. Let's hope all sides of the GOP will take your words to heart and move forward in unity. If not, then be honest and switch to the Democrat party.
A couple of thoughts about unifying. Unifying toward a good goal is a virtue. Unifying toward a bad goal just hastens destruction (not a virtue).
I'm rather new to the whole political game from the inside perspective. I do have a problem with those who I perceive as having lied before. I just won't trust them again without lots of evidence that now they are telling the truth ( you know who you are). Therefore, I will have a difficult time "unifying" with them, even against RCV, or rather, I would put it this way. "I'll let you join with us to defeat RCV, but I'm going to watch you like a hawk because I'm half convinced you're going to stab us in the back somewhere along the line."
I loved your take on "happy warriors", because it's so true. Life is far better when your compatriots in the battle can laugh at both themselves and their enemies. It's way better than complaining or crying!
And lastly, about your comments on our inability to bend a bit. After more than 63,000,000 dead, I'm done compromising on abortion. Period.
However, I would be willing to discuss compromise on things like education funding, as long as the other side bends a bit as well. And there's the rub. I don't see the "other side" that is those who hold differing opinions on things like education, H&W, federal spending, being willing to compromise at all. Not even a little bit. But I'm the one called "extremist" and 'unbending".
My whole life (and I voted for Reagan twice...as a reference to my age), I have never seen the liberal side compromise and become more conservative. Quite frankly I'm done with that as well. They want to talk? They want compromise?
I loved the statement, "Young people are looking for fighters, not compromising quislings." I'm no longer "young," but I look for fighters too, and we sure have some amazing fighters in our current Idaho legislature. 🙂
This is a really great article, Brian. Well done. We need this kind of thought leadership and actual leadership from both ends of the party IMMEDIATELY to have a successful election this November and in the future. Especially where I live in Blaine County where we aren't going to win unless we embrace a coalition approach. Also, ditto on chemtrails. :)
I just finished listening to a very inspiring American Thought Leaders podcast with Daryl Davis, a black man who over more than 40 years has helped turn around the most rabid KKK, Nazi, and other group members by trying to understand them. Fascinating! And he did it all through conversation, not violence (unless he was physically attacked, which happened a few times):

Yes, beautifully written.
Brian is a much better man than I.

Ranked choice voting. Jungle primaries.
They’re lies.
GSC aggressively pushed those with $ supplied by whom? Until we know these things, quick forgiveness isn’t “wise”, it’s foolish.
We’ve been screwed time after time after time… I’d love to “resolve” and move forward. Not until we see the facts.
100% agree with you, Jim King. Thanks for pointing that out.

As a member of the Kootenai County Reagan Republicans, I agree, Reagan quotes are getting old. How about the Trump Republicans?!
