Thank you for this very timely article. I’ve had a lot of people ask me about it (I’m a PC in Buhl). Republicans in the Magic Valley received it as well.
We attended a meet and greet today for some fantastic District 8 candidates to replace our unfortunate current representation ( Geoff Schroeder, Megan Blanksma, and Matt Bundy ). Some people were asking about the Idaho Bulletin wondering what it was all about and who was behind it. I found this most excellent article in my inbox when we returned home. Great timing! I’ve already shared with the candidates and organizers of the event.
We hope everyone will engage in the election process— PRIMARY elections matter most in Idaho — before it’s too late. We all must work hard to meet, support, and elect state representatives as good as the following will be: Christy Zito, Faye Thompson, and Rob Beiswenger. We had a chance to enjoy dinner with these well-studied highly principled people, getting to know them as individuals and as future legislators. Everyone should endeavor to do the same before voting for candidates in your own districts.
In District 24, we need to work hard to reelect Glenneda Zuiderveld for Senate and elect Clint Hostetler for the House; District 25 elect Josh Kohl, senate, David Leavitt, house; District 26, Kally Schiffler and Lyle Johnstone for the House. These candidates need our money and our time!
I don’t know any of the candidates you mentioned except Glenneda Zuiderveld, whose work in the senate has been exemplary. If the others you mentioned share her principles and work ethic, they absolutely should be supported.
We need to spread the word on all these good candidates, social media if you use it (sorry, I don’t) and other Substacks. Joan Hurlock, would you consider sharing this information about Districts 24 and 26 on Glenneda’s substack too (if you haven’t already)? https://glenneda.substack.com/
Perhaps ask some of these candidates to appear jointly at a meet and greet as Rob Beiswenger, Faye Thompson, and Christy Zito did yesterday at a District 8 event. Seeing how these candidates would work together to benefit everyday citizens was a great opportunity.
Thank you for this great suggestion. I posted the following on Senator Zuiderveld's Substack. Here you go Big E:
Great article about what makes good leaders(referring to Sen. Zuiderveld's article) If you live in the Magic Valley, there are several candidates that meet the criteria outlined in Senator Zuiderveld's article that will need your support in this year's Republican primary. The competent and qualified, God-fearing candidates to support are:
District 24: Senate - Glenneda Zuiderveld, House, Seat A - Clint Hostetler
District 25: Senate - Josh Kohl, House , Seat B - David Leavitt
District 26: House, Seat A - Kally Schiffler, House, Seat B - Lyle Johnstone
You can meet the various candidates at several venues:
Wed, February 21, noon, La Cabinita restaurant, Buhl
Thur, March 21, 6:30 - 8:30pm, Coram Deo Coffee shop, Twin Falls
Thur, March 28, 6:30 - 8:30pm, Jerome, location TBD
Thur, April 11, 6:30 - 8:30pm, Coram Deo Coffee Shop, Twin Falls
Thur, April 25, 6:30 - 8:30pm, Jerome, TBD
Sat, May 4, 2 - 4 pm, Coram Deo Coffee Shop, Twin Falls
Except for Senator Zuiderveld, all of the Magic Valley legislators run as Republicans, but vote like Democrats. Their voting records have been scored by the Institute for Legislative Analysis, a DC-based, non-partisan organization, that scores all legislators and legislation based on limited government principles of the US Constitution.
Based on the ILA's analysis, Idaho is actually a blue state.
This is FABULOUS, Joan Hurlock! Great job, especially including the ILA analysis. You could also add the Idaho Freedom Foundation (IFF) rankings, which are based on how the legislators vote on bills that are scored on freedom, spending, and education criteria (see Indexes menu at https://idahofreedom.org/). For example, District 24 might look like this (IFF rankings are for 2023):
District 24
Senator Zuiderveld: 97% (ILA) | Education A+, Freedom A-, Spending F (IFF)
The establishment will stop at nothing to get their IACI/Friends of Brad LittlePAC/ Main Street Caucus candidates elected. They are full of dirty tricks, including sending out a misleading "Idaho Bulletin". Senator Zuiderveld wrote a great article about what makes good leaders. Most people I talk to are absolutely disgusted with the establishment GOP and they love Dorothy.
Knocked that one out of the "Park" Grass roots people Love Dorothy Moon and never liked Tom "Common Core" Luna
